Tips

We all want to feel and look our best, right? Our common sense probably gives us a pretty good idea how to implement that. So why are so many of us struggling? Putting it in action is the difficult part!  Let’s talk about the four pillars to your best health and I will give you a few keys to succeed with each

1. Nutrition:

Go plant based. Get rid of sugar and processed foods. Take a step wise approach. This will make it much more tolerable. Try eliminating one bad vice every 4-5days. Also add a new veggie in that same time frame. After a couple weeks you will notice some positive changes in your energy level, mood, and how your body feels.

2. Exercise:

We all know this is good for us. Carving out the time is the trick! Start small with a 10min brisk walk. Then jog at 2min intervals with 1min walk and repeat. Build up to a 30 min jog. This is just one example of how to start. The goal is to have several varieties of exercise 4-5 times a week. Yoga, strength training, and cardio are great set for the week.

3. SLEEP:

How many of us are not getting the truly restful nights sleep we need? They now believe lack of sleep is just as harmful as smoking! Talk about detrimental to your health. 7-9 hours a night is what’s recommended. You must actually be cycling through your deep/REM sleep to wake up feeling refreshed. Try a 5 min meditation to relax to start your 1- hour screen free wind down. Do your best to go to sleep and wake at the same time every day.

4. Connection:

A recent study found that people who lacked meaningful relationships had a 26% increase in mortality rate. Use that statistic to help you prioritize time with friends, family, and loved ones. I am just as guilty as you with not carving out time for my social network. Life is crazy busy for us all. Start with a small goal of once a month. If we break our goal into tiny bites, we are more likely to achieve them. Think about how positive you feel when your bucket is full.
