This is my new thing and you have to try it!  I had only heard of it and was always nervous to try the yellow concoction. Well, that changed when I was on a brief reset and thought “why not” 😊 It is warm and comforting, plus super good for you.  Such a win! It is a traditional Ayurvedic drink. It can be as simple as milk, turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, touch of honey, and pepper. Why is this so good for you? Well, it has huge anti inflammatory and antioxidant effects. Plus it may boost brain-function , improve digestion (thanks to ginger), and possibly lower blood sugar levels from the cinnamon.

Curcumin is all the rage and is the active component of turmeric. Piperine is in black pepper and helps you absorb the curcumin. Even a small amount of FRESH black pepper can help you absorb the curcumin by up to 2,000%. Another important note is these are both fat soluble so I use part coconut milk. You could also add a teaspoon of coconut oil.

I love adding turmeric to many of my simple bean recipes too. I am all about yummy and easy recipes so I can really incorporate them into my routine.  It is a VERY well- studied and proven anti-inflammatory. There are about 5,000 studies that cite its benefits and even hundreds that show it is better than pharmaceutical drugs.

I know this has been all about health reasons to try it but it is also an experience, trust me! The warmth, spices, and aroma are amazing. So go ahead nourish your body and soul with a cup…
